Science at Maplewood Alternative High
At Maplewood High, our programme aims to develop each student as a whole person. This complex endeavour brings together many people, programs, and services to address each student’s unique needs.
In our Science classes, students develop valuable skills that empower them to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our teachers actively seek out ways for each student to succeed; as such, our lessons incorporate multiple learning styles and intelligences and build upon past successes to make learning attainable, stimulating, and rewarding. Our students thrive in this kind of supportive environment.
The curriculum prescribed by the B.C. Ministry of Education is addressed in all instructional areas throughout the high school programme. In each class, teachers adapt and accommodate course requirements to meet each student’s individual needs.
Each grade level is divided into three major branches of science: life sciences, physical sciences (chemistry and physics) and earth sciences. Visit our Science 8, Science 9, Science 10, Biology 11 and Geology 12 pages for further details specific to each course.
